SERVING THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

My name is Roel Van Broeckhoven, I am 44 years old and have been a member of Kiwanis Club Maaseik Van Eyck since 2014.
Kiwanis is a worldwide association of volunteers who work every day for charity with a focus on helping children in poverty.
The motto of Kiwanis is not for nothing “Serving the children of the world”.
In the District of Belgium-Luxembourg, as many as more than four thousand members spread across two hundred clubs every day working to help children in poverty.

Because in a world where millions of children are confronted every day with war and suffering, an association like Kiwanis is very much needed.
That is why it is important that we as Kiwanis also dare to question ourselves.
Not so much because the past was bad or because today is bad but to improve the future.
That is why dear friends of kiwanis, we must be open to change and take time to embrace the change.
And that is why, today, I am proud to submit my candidacy for the vice governorship of our district Belgium-Luxembourg.

THE SIX GOALS OF KIWANIS

Kiwanis is a philosophy based on some of the core values that form the foundation of our movement and that sets us apart from all other associations! These core values were written 100 years ago and, in the world we live in, are more current today than ever. Putting human and spiritual values above material ones.
  • Encouraging the daily application of the ” Golden Rule ” in all human relationships. “Treat another as yourself would like to be treated by him.”
  • Promoting the acceptance and application of higher social, business and professional standards.
  • To bring about, through word and deed, a more developed, more active and more service-oriented society.
  • Finding, past the Kiwanis clubs, the way to lasting friendship, to selfless service and to building a better society.
  • Working together to pursue and uphold wholesome views and noble ideals that involve more honesty, justice, patriotism and good will.
